GOAL

The goal of this competition is to give students the opportunity to improve their leadership abilities through participation in activities that contribute to the development of their speech skills.


RULES

-          Only students from secondary schools that are members of MASSUM, and have paid the yearly membership fee can participate in this competition.

-          This competition will be in Macedonian and Albanian language. Each school can nominate only one student for each language.

-          Each participant must send their speech to the mentor’s e-mail.

-          Depending on the number of participants, the competition will be organized in one or two stages.


ORGANIZATION

Speech

Each participant will be assigned the task of preparing a speech on a specific subject related to the vocation the participant studies. The speech must be understandable for the wider audience, clear, precise, simple, well constructed, it must present examples and lucid sentences. Additional technical devices and materials are not allowed. All teams must submit list of references used for the preparation of the speech. Participants will be allowed to use notes, but they must be careful not to disrupt the efficiency of the speech.


Time limit

The speech time is not allowed to be less than 4 minutes or longer than 6 minutes. The teams will lose points if they do not respect the time limit. Time will be measured by a person chosen by the organizers. Contestants will not be informed about the time.


Assessment

The entire performance will be observed and assessed by two or three judges who are allowed to sit in different places in the room. Each judge will assess participants individually. The judges will assess the content and composition of the speech as well as the performance. In the end, the judges will have 5 minutes to ask questions related to the content of the speech. If two or more participants have the same number of points, then the participant with more points for the general impression will win. If the result is a tie again, the participant with more points for the questions asked by the judges will win.


Prizes

The prizes will be awarded at a special ceremony. The prizes will be provided by the MASSUM sponsors.
